Can you please give me the step by step instructions on how to insert annual
repeating events with a reminder that comes up on that day (say at 8am on the
day rather than midnight).

I really appreciate any assistance you can provide.

Many thanks

Donna

File | New | Appointment
Give it a name, etc...
Type CONTROL + G (hold control and type G)
you'll get a recurrence dialog
Select Yearly recurrence
OK

The reminder will fire 15 minutes before the start time of the meeting (by
default). Just set the start time of the appoinment to 8:15 AM.

(if you want to change the 15 minutes, you can click Tools | Options in
Outlook and change the default reminder time.)

Last thing: if you make the appointment an all day event, the reminder will
fire 18 hours before. You can change this to 0 minutes before, but then the
reminder will fire at midnight.

Hope this helps.

If you want a reminder for an all day event to fire say at midday the day
before, make the reminder setting .5d which means 1/2 day. I set birthdays
to 6.5d as that gives me reasonable notice!

There's a Recurrance setting button in the toolbar for all versions of
Outlook.

John, thanks for your prompt response. I understand the recurrence and
changing of times, however I want to put in birthdays / anniversaries and for
a reminder to come up at say 8am on the actual day of the birthday /
anniversary. Is there any easy way of doing this???

Kind regards

Donna

Reminders' time of firing relates to the Start Time of the event or meeting.
So no, if you want an ll Day Event (birthday, anniversary etc) you'll need
to have it remind you the day before (as I described in the earlier post
that crossed over yours) or make it an appointment for 8am on the day (and
not an All Day Event).

All day events can't fire reminders after the start of the event - you'd
need to make a recurring task or set the b-day to begin later in the day.
