Hi,
Is it possible to stop OL2003 from autoformatting telephone numbers? It has
the bad habit of adding country and area/city codes to all numbers, such that
they end up taking this format, even if for local numbers:
+00 (123) 123-4567

TIA

Make sure your WIndows Modem and Dialing properties are correctly set and
Outlook will properly format the phone numbers.

I went to Phone and Modem Options and configured the dialing rules for
another country... now it lets me input number in whatever format I want and
it leaves them alone... no hyphens, area/country codes, parenthesis or +
signs inserted, nor is it broke up into the 3+7 US format (some European
countries have a 2+8 format).

The problem was not only with local/national numbers, but with foreign
numbers being formatted to US format; other countries do not have area codes
so part of the actual phone number gets treated as area code... not good when
dialing within the country itself.

To me it is not the most likable solution, but at least it is one. I think
that this should be possible without having to chage countries, like the
Auto-Correction options in Word. If you do know of a better solution, please
let me know.

Thank you, Brian, for your help, though I feel like I just came out a
tough-love experience. Hey, upon the next Office upgrade I will not forget
how to fix that, even prevent it.
