Annoying sign on window

Hello All:

I'm having a minor but persistent and annoying problem with the IE sign on
window. When I'm offline but working in other programs (like Word) the sign
on window repeatedly pop ups. Is there anyway to stop this? It is causing
problems with the function of another program. And I am perfectly capable of
clicking the sign on icon when I'm ready to dial up.

Any responses greatly appreciated.

In IE go to 'Tools > Internet Options > Connections tab
Choose 'Never dial a connection'.

There might be other programs trying to access the
internet like anti-virus or messenger programs check
and configure not to connect.

Sounds like IE might be open to a Web page that has a meta refresh command.
