Annoying problem with IE6 and images

I am -STILL- having an ANNOYING problem with IE6. When I reinstall Win2000
(and
even XP) and install IE6, everything works fine. Images and stuff display
without a problem. However, as time goes on, the browser gets to the point
where images on web pages won't display all the time - either they show up
as empty little boxes or as boxes with an X thru them. Some times a page
will show all images; some will only have one or two not showing; some
(such as the one I tried today) will have 3/4ths of the images not
showing!!

I've seen other problems about this on this forum, and the answers suggest
that it has something to do with the HOSTS file, ad/firewall software, etc.
But here is the wierd part - every time, when this happens on a web page, I
can simply right-click the empty box and select 'Show Picture' and the
image displays fine. Of course, going thru the page and right-clicking
everything is a major pain. However, if it was being blocked by something,
why would it allow me to show the image by using the right-click method?
And why didn't it occur at the beginning - why does it take a while (after
doing a full clean install) for this to begin happening? It is as though IE
cannot complete the loading of a page, and it takes me (by right-clicking)
to fully load everything. What is even more mystifying is that I am not the
only one
to see this - I visited my in-laws recently and saw that their IE 6 was
doing the same
thing! Also, this is not just a Win2000 problem - same issue occurs on XP
also.

I have also tried the Mozilla and Firebird browsers, and even when IE is not
loading pages correctly, these other browsers load them fine (I have never
had this problem with Mozilla, although I prefer IE). Therefore, I can't
believe it is something with the firewall or such, since it should then
occur with Mozilla also. Needless to say, it is very aggrevating - I don't
want to have to reload windows every few weeks just to fix this silly
problem.

Anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance.
