Annoying mouse pointer messages/slowww loading

1.How do I disable mouse pointer messages, i.e. point to
an icon and it states'where and what file it is."
2. What might cause my desktop to load very slowly on
boot up? The icons take forver to come up.
I am running Windows XP Professional. Thank you.

I am currently having the same problem but without the mouse messages. I have tried going back to the PS2 mouse instead of the USB but no difference. After 1.5-2 mins all programs run fine but it is very slow loading eventhough system idle is 99%. Your not alone in frustration.
