Annoying hardware install Wizard....

I've checked with Seagate and Microsoft to no avail...
My problem:
Recently I have added a Seagate external drive using one of my USB2 ports.
The Seagate drive does not come with an install driver disc. Seagate claims
you don't need one.
Running Windows XP sp2, picked it up and designated the drive as "I"..
Device manager lists it with no yellow exclamation point..
However, each time I boot, the "found new hardware" display starts followed
by the Wizard . I click on Cancel to get rid of it .
I was informed by Seagate that if I let it go through it's cycle and click
"finish", and also check the little do not show again box, it would never
come up again. Not so!!
I'm open to
all suggestions.
BTW, the Universal Serial Bus controllers show clear also.. Plus the drive
works fine its just annoying to go thru this routine every time I boot..

Thanks..... Strings

Use disk management to change the drive letter of your external drive to be
near the end of the alphabet. I have designated mine as drive X: = external.

This way it will not trip over other devices that are also using the USB
bus.

I tried changing the drive letter to X as you advised but it did not stop
the Wizard from starting each time I Boot...I keep trying other procedures ,
maybe one of them will work...
