In the past several months I have experienced a frequent annoying sound while
browsing the internet in Explorer 6. I was able to identify the sound as
DROP.WAV, a popular sound provided by AOL and possibly other sources.
However, I do not use AOL, and have successfully deleted the file DROP.WAV
from my computer. The sound seems to happen on many unrelated sites, and it
does not appear to be associated with any one action I am taking in the
browser. Could this be the result of a virus? Anyone have any idea what this
is? Thank you.

One of the popular popup blockers plays that sound when it blocks a popup.

Frank,
Thank you very much! That is exactly what it is. I recently activated one of
the popup blockers.
