Annoying cursor movement in IE6

There are two very annoying problems I've noticed on multiple
computers running Windows XP and Windows 2000.

First problem is the the cursor jumping from the field I'm typing data
to some other field (such as address bar). Several times I have been
entering data in a text field (such as creating text in the body of an
e-mail on the Hotmail site) and the cursor suddenly moves somewhere
else (such as into the address bar of IE) and part of the text goes
there. I then have to go back and correct the text in the e-mail.
This happens on many different PCs.

The second annoyance is lately, after using the vertical scroll bar,
the screen sometimes automatically scrolls to the very botton of the
page as soon as the cursor is released (by letting go of mouse
button). The only way to to get back to the top of the page is to
either hold down the left mouse button and sroll back up or press the
Home key on the keyboard. If I don't press the Home key, the page
jumps back to the end as soon as the mouse button is released.

Again, this is noticed on different machines in different locations.

What causes this?

This is due to a bug in critical update 824145.
Work arounds:
Click immediately under the slider.
Drag the slider.
Use the mouse wheel.

Would these by ANY chance be laptops with a glide point
touch pad? I had a client that was complaining of the
same issue (cursor jumping all over the place) and it
turns out while she was typing, her finger was touching
the touch pad and making the cursor move to where the
mouse was.

Just a thought.

As far as the scroll bar issue, yes it is a bug as stated
in the other reply here.

No that isn't the cause, because I've seen it on both laptops and
desktop PCs. It does seem related or worsened by typing text before
the web page has has completely loaded. The Hotmail site and some
other sites seem to have a "feature" that forces the cursor to a
certain point when the page loading completes regardless if you have
already moved it to where you want and are actively entering text.
If that is the case, it should have been designed so you cannot start
entering text before the page has finished loading, so that is also a
bug if it is the cause of all the problems.
