I dont know anything about networking I dont have a
network card in my machine. What I do have, is a modem and
Dial Up. I cannot diconnect the dial up connection on the
fly the message I recieve when I attempt to disconnect is
as follows,

"It is not possible to disconnect at this time. This
connection may be using one or more protocols that do not
support Plug-and-Play, or it may have been initiated by
another user or the system account"

I visited the help section, see MS Knowledge Base article
237288 which says it is by "design"
Nuts to that I dont have RAS or Terminal Services in
Control Panel ADD remove or any of that stuff. Has anyone
any ideas about what I should do?

Do you have some sore of malware running on the PC? Sharing software
like Kazaa, a trojan perhaps or a worm or virus?

First off thank you for the reply
To tell the truth I have only put 2000 on the system a
month ago. I used to msconfig to see what was running I
still dont know the equivalent in 2000 the task manager
is "gobble de gook" to me. I have nortons anti-virus
running and I have a home firewall but I have to say I
think you are right htere is something running like
spyware or adware or something I have tried lava soft
adware remover but to no avail. Still cannot disconnect.
Thanks for the pointer though it helps me confirm that it
is something malicious running, but I have no idea how to
rid mysef of it.
Regards and tahnks again for taking the time to reply
