I'm using PPT to create a picture slideshow. Is there a way to animate a picture so that it enters in a horizontal orientation, pause and then move and rotate to a vertical orientation?

This can be done using the Entrance, Emphasis, and Exit animations available
in PowerPoint 2002 or 2003. Which version do you have?

I have Powerpoint 2002. I want to enter with a fade and then rotate 90 degrees and move at the same time to a different area of the slide and stay there in the rotated position.

Then you would use an Entrance animation to fade in on the slide. Not sure
if there is a rotate animation, but I know there is a spin. Then use a
Motion Path animation to move it where you want.

You can access these items by right-clicking on your object and selecting
"Custom Animation".

Ptho, it's possible that all you need is to apply three animations:

1. Do the Fade for an entrance.

2. Then after a delay of your own choosing, add a Spin as emphasis, and
simultaneously (With Previous) add a motion path to the photo.

The question is how you want the rotation to appear -- do you want it to
rotate around its own radius, or do you want it to swing like a pendulum? If
the latter, it's almost scary, ptho, how you learn something and you can
immediately put it to use. Just days after Shyam and Ute turned me on to a
cool trick, I think it might apply here. To have it swing like a pendulum,
you would create an invisible long, thin rectangle and group it with the
photo. Then when you spin that compound object, the photo will pivot and
rotate around the center of the compound object.

The pendulum effect is a pretty cool trick. Thanks

Back to my original question: I don't want my picture to just spin. What I want, if you can imagine, is to have the picture fade in as landscape, pause, slowly rotate and move to one side of the screen and end in a portrait position (picture is now sideways). I saw this done in a PP presentation but I just can't figure out how they rotated the picture to the final position. Thanks for all your suggestions so far.
