I have just bought a new machine with XP home pre-
installed. I am using Powerpoint 2000 on it. With windows
2000 I used to be able to control the speed at which
animated text or objects moved across the
screen "slow" "medium" or "fast" etc. This ability seems
now to be lost. What can I do to retrieve it please?

Colin,

The speed of the transitions has remained the same in powerpoint 2000 on windows 2000 and windows XP.

The slow medium fast setting only applies to "slide" transitions. (and not individual objects transitions on a slide)

slideshow menu
slide transition
choose a wipe
choose a speed

powerpoint xp/2002 does allow you to set a speed for object transitions (e.g. individual text on a slide)

Thank you for your help but I remember being able to control the rate at which say text "wiped" across the slide and it is that control which I am searching for.

I have PowerPoint 97, 2000, 2002 and 2003 on my system and 2000 doesn't have
a speed setting for animations. You can wipe by word or letter or all at
once and you can do it automatically or with a mouse click. Is that what
you're remembering?
