I have PPT 2000 and am trying to create an animation that
works when you mouse over an object (another text box
appears on the slide) instead of having to actually click
the mouse. Is this possible in 2000 and if so, how?

If not possible in 2000, is it functionality that's
available in PPT 2002?

Thank you,
Missy

You can create an Action Setting (Slide Show menu) that will respond to a
mouseover. But what that response is will determine your satisfaction. The
action can be move to another slide, presentation, program, or even run a
macro. But there is no such action that will launch an animation effect
(without VBA or faking it).

Depending on the "animation" you are looking for, you can set the action
setting to move to another slide (identical to the first) which has the
animation set to automatically launch. A mouseover on a part of that slide
can bring you back to the original slide.

As for 2002, it cannot do what you describe either, although it comes
closer. It can do exactly what you seek, but with a mouse CLICK on an
object, not a mouseover. Version 2000 cannot do that. You cannot click on a
specific object in v2000 and launch a specific animation (called a trigger).
You can only click ANYWHERE and cause the next animation in the sequence to
launch. So, v2002 offers a better system as far as that goes.
