Animation

Hope I can phrase this so it makes sense. Is it possible to have "animation" automatically run (not having to click on image) when you go back to a previous slide? Or, in other words, when I am paging through slides using "next arrow" button, the slides run with animation, but when I click on the "previous arrow" the "previous" slide displays without animation.

Windows returns to a previously played slide at the end of the builds on
that slide. Create a blank slide in front of the one you want to return to,
give it a timing of 0 (zero), and return to it. It will not be seen, but
will force the return to your slide at the beginning, rather than the end.

Sonia,
Thank you for your quick response. Your method requires that you know in advance which slide you will want to return to. I would like to be able to page through "all" the slides forward and backwards and have animation play "each time" you visit a slide. Maybe what I'm trying to accomplish isn't possible.

Ayup. <G> You can't change the way PowerPoint is engineered. If you want
to see the full animation upon a second visit, you have to enter the slide
from the previous slide. You may want to analyze the structure of your
presentation and assess what other approach you can take for laying out the
slides to minimize jumping around.

Sonia,
Thank you for your help. Your explanation of how powerpoint operates is very helpful. I have just been experiementing with it before actually starting to create presentations. Understanding what it isn't designed to do is as important as understanding what it does do. Thanks again.

Hello,

Even the latest version of PowerPoint for Windows, PowerPoint 2003, does
not replay animations on a

previously viewed slide when you jump to it from a later viewed slide. Of
course, the animations are

reset when the presentation loops back to the beginning or you navigate
"naturally" to a slide from

it's previous slide (hence the workaround suggested earlier).

If the option to choose whether or not the animations on a slide replay
from the beginning,

regardless of whether it was previously viewed or not, is important to you,
don't forget to send

your feedback to Microsoft at:

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also why it is

important to you that your product suggestion be implemented by Microsoft.
Microsoft receives

thousands of product suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any
given product

development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important

to our customers so take the extra time to state your case as clearly and
completely as possible.
