Can anyone recommend free or trial software that I can use with jpegs to
create animations that I can then import to use in WMM?

===============================
Two possibilities:

1) Microsoft GIF Animator
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/win/13212

2) MS Digital Image software has an option
called Flipbook that will create animated
..gif files. You can adjust the size of the
image, the sequence and the duration.

There's a 60 day trial version available.

Microsoft Digital Image
Starter Edition 2006
http://tinyurl.com/28loxr
(this offer is no longer being
promoted but I'm relatively sure
you can still download it and
run it for 60 days)

Once you have your images open in the
program...go to...Tools / Flipbook.

Thanks for those links, I'll have a look.

I should have said what I am really after is software that will allow me to
move people (and other objects) in photos from place to place and then view
that as a video sequence of some sort.

This can be accomplished with the
Digital Image trial.

You would have to make a cutout of
object that you wish to move....then you
can place it anywhere you wish. Then
the original position of the object would
have to be edited to prevent the object
from being visible in the original location.
This would be a very tedious, time
consuming task.

An easier way would be if you added the
cutout/s to a different image (as a back-
ground) you could move the objects and
create a duplicate...move them again and
create another duplicate until you had the
series you require.

Once you have your series of images
prepared...you would create the .gif.

And...if you actually require a video, you
could import the completed images into
PhotoStory or Movie Maker and create
a video file.

Thanks again, I was hoping for something that would automate the creation of
the series of images, i.e. image starts like this and ends like this, fill
in the movement...

All I can say is...good luck finding it.
