Animation lost if another PPt presentation is inserted

Whenever I insert files from another PowerPoint presentation into a new
presentation, the animations from the masterslide of the new presentation are
not applied to the inserted files while the previous animations on the
inserted files are lost. This means that I have to do each inserted slide
manually which is frustrating and time consuming. I am using PowerPoint 2003.
Any ideas?
Thank you very much,

Hi JB

I have just tested this and it all worked fine for me. Are you sure the
animation in the original are on the master as in View->Master->Slide Master?
And you need to match destination formatting so if you go through
Insert->slide from file you need to untick 'keep source formatting' - if you
copy and paste check the drop down list next to the clipboard to see which is
selected.

Let me know how you get on.

Hello Lucy:
Thank you for your reply. I just tried it again with another presentation.
All animation is on the master slide and when I inserted the other
presentation the box with 'keep source formatting' was unticked. Still, when
I play the presentation and want the text to fly in with sound, it flies in
but without sound even though the sound is on the master slide and works well
when I test the master slide. The only way I can get it to work is by doing
it manually for each slide, by transferring the master slide animation to the
slide in question and then adding sound. Not good. I just wish I could find a
work-around for this.

Since you have the animation and sound on the slide master, it must be the
same for every slide, correct? Would you not get the desired results by
setting the animation and sound effect and APPLY TO ALL SLIDES; After you
have imported sides from other presentations, of course.

Thank you, JR Hester, for your suggestion. It still does not give me the
animation. I seem to have found a work-around solution: delete all animation
from the master slide and reapply it after all slides from other
presentations have been inserted.
Thank you all for your responses.
