Animation doesn't restart when revisiting the slide!?

Im working on an interactive presentation which may require the
viewer/presenter to return to a slide which contains an index (bit like a
webpage) I have a nice wiping animation of a picture, which works just fine
when the slide is first visited, but if I return to that slide for a second
visit the animation is gone!!

Any ideas on how to get the animation to return with each visit, Im dont
want the animation to repeat over and over on that slide whilst its in view,
just once each time the slide is re-visited / "refreashed"

Thanks

Create a blank slide just before the MENU slide and set the slide transition
to automatic with a zero second time and link back to this blank slide.
Your MENU slide will automatically appear at the "beginning" of the slide
with all animations working.

Thanks Bill! That works a treat, last question if I may, I would like my
animation to only start after I mouse click, but looking through the
available settings it would seem that this is only possible when the mouse
is clicked/pointed on a specified field (text area). Do you have another
work round for this as my animation is a picture that covers the whole
screen (ie you cant see the text boxes). I could of course simply scroll the
mouse..... this plays the animation and doesn't (suprisingly) scroll
imemdiatly to the next slide. The thing is that the presentation is also for
distribution and I dont want people scrolling... as you are aware mine is a
menu driven ppt rather than a click 1,2,3,4 etc. So I dont want scrollers
jumping ahead. In fact whilst Im on the topic is it possible to disable the
scroll "slide show" function in a distributed version?

Many thanks

A couple of thoughts:

1. You can animate an object to appear, etc. on a mouse click when you click
your mouse anywhere. The thing you might be looking at is a "trigger" (made
available in PPT XP). This requires an object to be clicked, which
"triggers" the desired animation.

2. You can disable things like mouse-clicking and scrolling by clicking the
"Slide Show" menu, selecting "Set up show", and clicking "Browsed at a
KIOSK" option. This, however, takes away ALL mouse-clicking functions
except the ones provided by buttons or links you set up. Matter of fact you
can't even go to the next slide by simply clicking a mouse. You must
provide some sort of "Action button" or object and set the "Hyperlink to"
setting to "Next Slide". You must have all animations set to animate in a
timed sequence if using the KIOSK mode.

By the way, which version of PowerPoint are you using to create your
presentation?

Hello,

PowerPoint does not reset animations and slide timings (including
automatically playing inserted multimedia) on a previously viewed slide
when you jump to it from a later viewed slide. Of course, they are reset
when the presentation loops back to the beginning or you navigate
"naturally" to a slide from it's previous slide. Here is a KB article for
PowerPoint 2000 that describes a couple of workarounds (similar articles
exist for other versions of PowerPoint):

If it is important to you (or anyone else reading this message) that
PowerPoint include a method for choosing whether or not animations on
slide(s) replay when revisted without normal looping (perhaps a slide or
presentation option, or a Action Setting which can be chosen during slide
show), without having to resort to VBA or add-ins, don't forget to send
your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

Hello,

If you don't want to disable the ability to navigate to the next slide
automatically with a mouse click for all slides in the presentation (kiosk
mode), you can disable it on a slide by slide basis by turning off the
Advance slide "On mouse click" slide transition setting for individual
slides.

If none of the suggestions provided give you the functionality that you
were looking for or, if you (or anyone else reading this message) have
suggestions for how and why might improve your control over navigation and
interactivity during slide show, don't forget to send your feedback (in
