I work in the electric utiltiy industry and I am trying to make a visual
display of line-outages for a 5 state region in a PP slide.

I have a spreadsheet that gives the location of the outage, time the line
went out, and time it came back in. What I have done is manually enter the
information in for one week using the custom animation toolbar. This was a
very tedious task.

Is it possible to take the the information from excel and associate the
times given with the points I plot?? The entire year has a couple thousand
outages and I need to plot them all.

PowerPoint can't do this on its own but it's something that you could probably
do (or have done for you) in VBA (the programming language built into PPT) or
in some other programming language.

At a guess, it'd be complex enough that it might not be worth doing for a
single slide, but if you have to produce these regularly, hiring it out might
be sensible if you can't do the programming yourself. Several of us do this
type of project. If you're interested, say so in your reply and people can
supply their contact info.

Or if you've some VB/VBA experience and want to tackle it yourself, we'll be
happy to help if we can.
