Hi
Can anyone explain why my animated gif works in frontpage preview but not on
my website. I am using frontpage 2000
Animated gif was created in ulead gif animator and works fine there too
I have previously had animated gifs on my site which worked fine, as far as
i'm aware i haven't changed anything that would prevent them working now
Hope someone can help
Dave

Can we see it??

Animates just fine here.
Try clearing your temporary internet files and then check it.

You might also go here: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm
and download FP Cleaner.
Run the functions that Clear the FrontPage Temporary files and the Cache(.web) files.

| Animation (or what should be animated) is on home page. It consists of 8
| gif images in separate frames with 5 second delay

Hi Steve/Rob

Thanks for your help

Will follow your advice and let you know how I get on

Dave

Have done what you said but unfortunately still no animation when I view site

Is there anything else I can try?

Appreciate your help

Dave

Thanks for the feedback Joe

Something is wrong somewhere, I just have no idea what it is...driving me
nuts at the moment

Would uninstall/reinstall of FP200 make any difference?

Are there any other settings I can check?

Any help gratefully received

If you are using a pop-up blocker try turning it off.

It's not an FP issue.

Open Internet Explorer, click Tools > Internet Options and then click the Advanced tab.
Scroll down to Multimedia. make sure the check box for "Play animations in web pages" is
checked.
( If already checked, uncheck it and then recheck it )
Click apply.
Close and reopen IE and check the web page.

Interesting, it sure works here.
Guess I'll grab it and look at it in Ulead.

Steve

ULead gives the following export option:

1. As HTML file
2. As active desktop item
3. As animation package EXE

I chose option 1

I can create the same animation in Animation Shop (Part of PSP 9) and put on
site to see if that makes any difference

Dave

Steve

Have placed the animation on site twice:

1. Created in Ulead GIF Animator 5 (original from when you have previously
viewed site)
2. Created in Animation Shop 3.11

Frustratingly neither is working when I view site

Thanks again for your help and patience

Dave

In Ulead, you should have the option to save as a .gif.
File > Save As > Gif file
or
Ctrl+Shift+S

As a matter of fact, when I saved it from your web page, it saved as a gif.
It works as it should, in both Ulead and IrfanView and in my browser

Do animated .gifs from other sites work in your browser??

They both work for me.

What happens if you right click the image file, select "Open With," and select Internet
Explorer??

I'll check that out in Ulead

As for GIFs on other sites, I've never really taken much notice but will
check it out
