Hi,
I have version 2000 and Windows XP.
I want to show a slide with possible answers and then have it appear as if I
am circling the correct answer. I know I can use the pen but would like it
to appear by pressing enter.
Thanks,

Yes, you can do this. Draw the circle where you want. Then choose Custom
Animation from the Slide Show menu (I don't have 2000 anymore so I'm a
little unsure if the details are right). Choose the circle and add it to
the list of things to be animated.

Hi David,
Thank you. Do I actually "draw" a circle or use the circle shape on the draw
toolbar? I would prefer to "draw" it if I could do so without wiggles and
irregularity.

I was thinking of the circle shape on the Draw toolbar, but you can use
whatever drawing tool you wish (including the freeform tool).

No, to create the impression that the line is "drawn" starting at one point
and then around the object and back to the beginning, you would need the
animation "wheel", which was only introduced in PowerPoint 2002.

You might be able to fake a similar effect by inserting two half circles and
animating one to wipe down and the other to wipe up.

Best regards,
Ute

Or wipe from left and wipe from right....

The way I was interpreting the question, I thought the OP wanted
something simpler..to have the answer get circled somehow. I didn't read
into it a need for a fancy effect that simulates the circle actually
being drawn. For the simpler effect, just drawing the circle with the
circle tool will be just fine. For a more complex effect (that might
look like you're actually drawing it as it appears on the screen), some
of the animation effects suggested here could be useful.
