What is "anclb.exe", and why does it want to consistently connect to the
internet?
The usual searchs on MSDN and Google didn't turn up any information.
Is this a trojan? An Ad tracker? Or something vital to the Win2k O/S?
Disabling it, removing it from the startup/run/load etc appears to have no
effect on this "Lazarus" executable.

Thanks

Don't know what it is and it is not on my W2K/XP Pro computer. If you already
disabled it and the computer runs fine it is not a vital file unless you see
messages in Event Viewer that there is a problem. I would run a virus and
parasite scan to see if anything comes up however. If nothing is foundy leave it
disabled. You might try to see what address it is trying to access and then plug
the number in your browsers address bar to se what comes up that may provide a
clue. A lot of software that you install will have a component that will try to
contact their website for updates, registration, etc. The folder that it resides
in may also tell you what application may be using it. --- Steve

Thanks for your reply.

My main concern was whether it was something 'vital' to the system and
shouldn't be meddled with. Thanks to you I now know I can pursue its
destruction with little fear.

No current spy/bot/virus-checker etc. appears able to detect it. And no
normal process (delete from registry/.INI/from disk, etc.) is able to
destroy it. It will take some extraordinary effort and additional education
to finally rid or resolve the problem. But thanks again in aiding me to
narrow my search.

If I might piggy-back on your reply, a quick plea to M$ ...

This is the number one reason why Linux looks more and more appetizing - at
least you can "know" and manage what is running on your system. Windows is
far too often a "black box" which unfortunately while you paid handsomely
for its presence and pay the electric bill for its feeding - you
unfortunately seldom feel like you actually "own" it. <g>
