analog to digital ?

Hi.... I have alot of old vhs video tapes I'd like to copy onto cd's or
dvd's...
Can any one tell me what direction to go in ? what is the best method, best
way to
get the best quality ?

Some camcorders let you convert analog to digital. I use Sony DCR-HC40 (
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0001BVHL4/exploresql-20 ) and it
lets me connect my VCR to it via A/V input, and then I connect my camcorder
to my laptop using iLink. This results in Digital output and it works fine
for me.
