Hi, I want to tranfer my old Video 8 movies to my PC, and I'm using my new
MiniDV camcorder that has the analog to digital passthrough. But when I
click CAPTURE in MovieMaker it PLAYS the tape in the MiniDV camcorder, and
if I press stop, then MovieMaker stops capturing, so I can't capture my old
movies.

What is the procedure to capture the movies from my old camcorder?

Thanks

Juan

Juan,
I just bought a new Mini DV camera myself & had the same problem. I read the manual for the camera & it said to remove the tape so it can't go into play mode. hope this helps.

MovieMaker has some problems doing passthrough for some people or some
cameras (I don't know the whole story).

If you can't resolve the problem another alternative is to try WinDV or just
copy the Video 8 movies to tape on your MiniDV camcorder.

Here is the answer that I read on PapaJohn's website.
Movie Maker ver 1.0 worked with analog to digital pass through.
Movie Maker 2.0 eliminated this feature (for some reason?)
I the newest version of Movie Maker 2.1, that is part of the SP2 window
update,
the pass-through feature was restored.

I am looking forward to this since the workaround for version 2.0 is to copy
analog tapes onto my digital camcorder, then import in to MM2.
