An update a day?

Every morning for the past week or so XP has notified me that an update is
available. What is going on? I haven't noticed if the numbers are the
same, so I don't know if it's a repeat problem of what they had earlier this
year. But it is ridiculous! If they are different updates, it doesn't
speak well of MS (not that anyone ever does.)
 
You haven't said whether you're getting this *update* via email, if so,
it's a virus. Microsoft NEVER send updates by attachment.
You should go to the Microsoft site and do ALL the critical updates etc.

On the Official Microsoft XP Update Site, there is one 282 KBs security
update in particular that is very "reluctant" to install on quite a few
machine for whatever reason(s).
If that is the one: just "personalize" your update page and untick it.
To find out if this the one: just download it, install and then go back to
the site. If it's still listed as available then....

Of course I know better than to update via email. It is *XP itself* that is
notifying me, via the little icon in the system tray.
