I'm not a microsoft expert but, did you turn off System Restore before
you removed the registry item ?
........or if you become desperate, download and use Killbox . I've used it
once, though I can't remember what it was it removed, but it removed
something I couldn't remove any other way.
Another idea is use Windows LiveOneCare , I'm not sure I got the name
right, but it cleans out the registry. Maybe it will do a better job for you.
I think I would try Windows OneCare first.
