An unknown feature

In the last couple of months a new feature has popped up
and I can find no one who knows anything about it or how
to use it or how to circumvent it. When on the internet a
screen might come up but the only thing on the screen is a
small box in the upper left corner. It is colored with
red and blue. Clicking on it will sometime provide an
option to allow one to "see the picture". But not always.
Sometimes clicking produces nothing. What is this and is
it possible to override or go around? I have asked any
number of reasonably compenent users and everyone seems to
be quite ignorant of what this is. Any comments?

What is it called in running processes?

It sounds like some spyware crap you installed
accidentally of the internet. Sorry. Basically what it
does is light up when you visit certain web pages and
report back your surfing behaviour to spammers, so they
can know what kind of junk mail to send to people.

Q

Ps,

You can probably get rid of it by downloading AdAware
from here: http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/

Run it and it will tell you if there is any spyware
advertising junk on your computer. If it finds any, check
the boxes next to what it finds and tell it to delete
them.
