When sending mails, the mails accumulates in the Outbox. I then can delete
thne mails one by one, but the last one is impossible to delete and trying to
delete gives the error message mentioned.
I use VISTA ULTIMATE. This did not happen before.

Back then you weren't using Windows mail on a system
most likely infected by pathogenic antivirus tools, I'd wager.

Use this to get by... http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/Default.aspx
You'll need to read and follow the instructions.

Thank you very much- the Outbox is empty and works fine after choosing the
different options.

You're welcome.

All thanks should really go to Steve Cochran who wrote and generously provided
the utility free of charge.

Thanks for your response. I also needed the instruction about unzipping the
WMUtil file. After I did that, and followed the other instructions you gave,
the stuck mail in Outbox disappeared. [But I couldn't figure out what you
meant by "Approve UAC. Explain?]

I've never before had this problem with email--used OE for years. Is it a
Vista problem? Any suggestions for avoiding this in future?

Thanks for your help!!

Get rid of Norton or McAfee antivirus software entirely
and use Avast (free) with email scanning excluded.
