Hi all

A really intractable problem here which nothing (so far) seems to resolve.
I am using Windows XP Pro with SP1.

The main problem is that when a Javascript is put on the page (for example
the search box (bottom right) on www.ageconcernbexley.org.uk ) it appears to
work OK for everbody except me! As an example type in "volunteers"
(without the quotes) into the search box. I am sure it will work for you.

That would suggest that the cache on my machine needs clearing (done several
times); Cookie control needs changing (tried everything incl. turning
cookies control off); with both of those turning off Zone Alarm Pro. There
is no way that I can see any changes I make to a site without telephoning
(or emailing) someone else to take a look. Very frustrating!

A couple of other less important problems but which may be pointers to
trouble:

1. The forward Delete button does not work in MSWord (Office 2000) when
text has been selected- it used to,
2. The Customize Outlook Today button does not work in Outlook 2000 - it
used to.

Javascript has not been disabled in IE6 so far as I can see.

Can anyone help please before I go completely mad?

Do you have the Sun Java console? Might help.
http://java.sun.com/
Do you have Norton? Disable script blocking.
Go through the objects in the Internet Options, general tab, view files, view
objects. Could be one of the objects is causing your problem.
When I went to the site, my Java console came up in the systray, did yours?

Hi Byte

Thanks for the advice - yes it appears that Java IS enabled on my machine.
However, I found the Script blocking (mentioned by Mary) was enabled. It's
now disabled but makes no difference!!!

More research required!!

Hi Mary

Thanks for the advice.

I have now disabled Norton Script blocking, but unfortunately it hasn't made
any diffference!!

As for Objects I have the following:
Java Runtime Rnvironment 1.4.1_01
Shockwave Active X Control
Shockwave Flash Object
Symantec RuFSI Registry Information Class
Update Class
Office Update Installation Engine
RdxIE Cl;ass
EPSImageControlClass

Mostly all Greek to me - are any of these likely to be the problem?
