amend a .pps file

If I have saved a powerpoint show as a .PPS file but do not save an the
original saved, how can I access it to make an amendment without doing the
whole show again??

Powerpoint will open it for editing. You can then save it as both PPT and
PPS.

I can't!!

A .PPS file opens the powerpoint show in view show mode. So it's full
screen size, animations and transition are running. You can't stop it apart
from exiting by pressing esc.

You can't even resave it in a diff format or open it in viewing mode!!!!
HELP!
 
Open powerpoint first and then open the file using the open option from
inside powerpoint. For 2003, it's on the standard toolbar and the file menu.
For 2007, it's on the Office button.

If it's in PowerPoint version 97 to 2003, you can rename it in Windows
Explorer and just change the extension from PPS to PPT. (This will not work
with PPSX files created in PowerPoint 2007.)
