Hi Folks.

This is my first post on this group, unfortunately because of my problem
with new PC. Everything is working fine, until I try to play games. After
1/2 minute, more or less, computer suddenly restarts.

Is this problem somehow related to the AMD64 or something else could be the
reason? Configuration:

Gigabyte K8NF-9, socket 939, nForce4-4x
AMD Athlon64 3000+
HDD 160 GB S-ATA150
PCIE nVidia 6600GT, 128 MB, VIVO

Thanks for help.

in xp your event viewer might tell you the cause, most likely a video
driver conflict

Thanks, that sounds interesting. Can you tell me please how to configure/use
event viewer.

I thought the same way. But I used first original video drivers, and then
another, proven drivers against crashes on another PC, but without success.

All the parts mentioned require allot of watts and a steady quality PS.
Example: Enermax , Antec 400w or better not a generic 450w that come in most
low cost cases. (junk)
Do you have quality Power Supply ?:
What brand of Ram ?
My first guess is over extended PS
Second poor ram
Third drivers

OK, I'm sorry if I can't give you all the info, because I'm around 1000 km
away from home :-) I will try to make call this evening and ask for more
info.

About power supply, I'm not shure. I'l try to check out this.
RAM is KingMax (2x256MB).

My first guess is RAM. Make sure the BIOS is not set at "Performance" mode.
It provides a slight overclock which affects RAM speed (you didn't say what
speed RAM you had). Additionally, check the KingMax website (is Kingmax on
the Gigabyte website as tested and approved?) for operating voltage of the
RAM- you may try to up the V by .1 - I had to do that with my Gigabyte board
and Mushkin RAM to get it stable.

You can try RAM and CPU in: Prime95->Torture Test. 30 minuts without error
will be enough. This mobo is extremaly demanding on quality of RAM modules
particulary in DUAL" mode. If tests show errors You can try RAM in single
channel mode.
Also power supply can be quite possible reason.

Event viewer is part of "administrative tools". It should be in the
control panel, or you could click start>run> and type or paste
"%SystemRoot%\system32\eventvwr.msc /s" without the quotes. Or if you
want the tools listed in your start menu you can add it by opening
control panel> click 'taskbar and start menu'> click the start menu tab>
click the customize button> click the advanced tab and find it in the
'start menu items' box.

OK, thank you all.

This evening PC will go to another company which will check what can be
wrong. And if there is no solution, it will go back to company where PC has
been purchased.

Reason why is not going immediately there is because this PC has been once
in service allready. They forgot to setup BIOS properly (they say). I wasn't
able to boot system from any device.

I just don't believe them any more.
