Maybe Otellini and the gang need to take a pay cut? ;p

Time for another Craig-mail.:-)

It will be beautiful when AMD has over 50% total market share for pc processors.

That won't happen so soon. Walmart didn't become the world's largest retailer
in a short period of time.

Typical American corporation. Promote the marketing guy.

Otellini has a degree in economics and a MBA.

Not your engineering type.

Wonder why everything has been screwed up since the P3 ?

I thought executive pays were a fixed cost of this business? Sort of like
buying fab equipment, R&D, etc.? :-)

No, not fixed at all. When the company survives, they do well. When the
company grows, they do even better, despite their contribution.
Evidence; Carly.

The current CEO, Craig Barrett, is an engineer, believe it or not. The
engineers can screw it up just as royally as the marketing guys.

AMD (One FAB Wonders) at full tilt can only supply about 30%, I think
Hector recently said AMD is aiming for 30% by end of 2005 or was it
2050? ;p

AMD is in the process of building a new fab. My guess is that AMD
may also soon start having others fab for it. IBM, Taiwan Semi, or
UMC are possible contenders. AMD is hoping for 30% of the corporate
market relatively soon, and a much larger percentage of the consumer
market. Those are relatively short term targets. Imo if AMD keeps executing
well, they have a chance for 50%+ overall market share by 2007 or 2008.
Of course AMD might be taken over before then, and if they are taken
over by a company with very deep pockets(and especially one that
has plenty of fab space), very large market share gains might happen
much sooner.
