Hello Group. I'm putting together a system...Athlon 64 3200 or 3400..AMD
site says supports up to pc3200 ram...I'm looking at Corsair XMS 2x512...but
there are so many different pairs to choose from (newegg). What should I
look for? The only dif I see is latency. What's the best? Price doesn't seem
to change.

Thanks,

PK

Start by checking which memory the motherboard manufacturer has
qualified for use. Second I'd go to a website forum to see the
results of fellow users of that motherboard. One potential forum is
at http://forums.amdmb.com . Some memory manufacturers will guarantee
compatibility, like http://www.crucial.com .

If you can get the lower latency part for same price, all else being
equal, do so. On the other hand a latency difference is minor
performance difference for a system, if it does end up costing
significantly more it may not be worth the extra $$ so much as to put
that $$ towards other areas in the system.
