AMD's R600 GPU delayed to Q2 2007
21-Feb-2007, 12:46.17 Reporter : Arun Demeure
Our sources confirm that AMD's next generation R600 GPU has been
further delayed to Q2 2007 and, sadly, they didn't mention April 1st
as the likely ETA. In fact, our understanding is that we're likely
looking at late April as a minimum here. Other reports on the net, as
of the time of writing, also claim they have official statements from
AMD confirming the new Q2 release goal.
AMD is indicating that the reason for the delay is that they want to
target a broader audience with R600, implying they've probably decided
they need something to compete against the GeForce 8800 GTS 320MiB. On
a related note, we haven't heard anything implying RV610 or RV630 have
been similarly delayed; thus, at this point, a combined launch doesn't
seem out of the question. That would depend on how much R600's launch
has been pushed back, and whether they'd be willing to not hard-launch
the entire family if they aren't all ready at exactly the same time.

ATI's R600 graphics chip hits snag
Posted Feb 21st 2007 2:32PM by Donald Melanson
We've had our eye on ATI"s new top-end R600 graphics chip for some
time now, first getting a look at some impressive early benchmarks and
then being taken aback by the foot-long graphics card the chips will
call home (at least in some configurations). Sadly, it seems that
those with money and power (as in 270W) to spare will have to wait a
bit longer to slot one of the behemoths into their own PCs, with The
Inquirer reporting that the R600 chips, and consequently the graphics
cards based on 'em, have been delayed yet again, now pushed back to
sometime in the second quarter of this year. There doesn't seem to be
any word on the reason for the delay, but the news apparently came
straight from ATI parent company AMD. Given what the cards are likely
to cost, however, we're guessing that at least some won't be too
disappointed in the delay, with the extra time allowing you to save up
some more money and make some more excuses for why you're spending so
much on a graphics card.

R600 is delayed until Q2. There's no suggestion on when in Q2 yet,
though.
We have just learned that AMD's upcoming and eagerly anticipated R600
graphics processor has been delayed until the second quarter.
Something drastic enough to prevent AMD from launching this quarter
has gone wrong, but the company didn't really go into the specific
cause of the delay.
We could speculate all day long, but we'll leave that to someone else.
The chip was scheduled to get its first public outing under the lights
in the Hanover Messe at this year's CeBIT trade show, but that is
starting to look unlikely given this news.

Confirmed: ATI R600 / X2900 launch delayed
Legit Reviews has been able to confirm that the upcoming DAMMIT R600
launch has been delayed. The card has been pushed back for strategic
purposes and the from the sounds of things it will be roughly a month.
This means that the launch event in Europe has been canceled and there
is no word if ATI will be letting partners show the card in systems
during Cebit. Delays are nothing new for the R600 as it was slated to
be launched in November 2006 and has yet to show face. Expect to see
the Radeon X2900 XTX in Q2 after AMD.ATI get ready to really launch
the card!

R600 delayed again
Pushed over into Q2
By Fuad Abazovic: Wednesday 21 February 2007, 12:35
WE JUST had a call from DAAMIT and we learned that its R600
presentation and introduction is pushed to a later date. It won't
happen before Cebit, nor any time this quarter.
It is pushed back for launch in Q2 and this comes officially from AMD.
Hector won't be happy as he made the promise for a Q1 launch. µ
