AMD have launched the new Athlon 64 FX-57 processor, which keeps up the heat on Intel. This socket-939 CPU is clocked at 2.8Ghz and uses the new 90nm manufacturing process. The short of it is... this CPU is amazing for gamers! See these in depth reviews for benchmarks and more details:

Yes this one looks really good and they have sorted out the memory configuration problems from the FX55...Although it'll be a while before any of us normal bods can afford one...like in 2 years time when its old hat...

if i was to spend £760 on a new CPU i think i'd go for the new X2 4800 instead

Its not as good for games, but for normal computer usage I'd say its better. Its like the HyperThreading on Intel CPUs, you can tell the difference when running multi-thread applications.

I'd go for the X2 4800 personally, as it would still be good at games (but better at the rest).

maybe il get one in a few years after the price has come down :D ...

that is an awful lot of money !!

but if you have that kind of money... WHY NOT !! :)

id make sure i had the best home computer money could buy if i won the lottery!!

near a grand though, on just a CPU, is friggin ridiculous!!

Yes far too expensive for us mere mortals, i mean you for £700 odd quid you could build a more than fast enough PC

Dam good benchmarks though

And am glad AMD are "sticking it to the intel!"
