I need some advice :
I was going to get a s754 3000+, but I've been reading about memory
compatability issues, then s939 came out and I was going to wait till the
price dropped a bit, but I've got to that point where I need a new computer
NOW! So would I be better off going back to the XP line with the 3200+ and
lotsa ram? Will I be kicking myself in 6 months time that I didn't hang on
for the 939? (I do big files on photoshop - I was hoping to get 1.5gb RAM+.
I need a reliable,stable system).

If the s939 is out of your price range, you would bebetter off with the s754
as opposed to the XP. Just make sure to get memory that is known to work
with your setup.

You could also get an Opteron 1xx (940). The Opteron's don't have Cool &
Quiet but they are substantially cheaper that the 939 pin versions if you
go for a slightly slower clock rate. The Opterons also have 1M caches vs
1/2M on the 939. The Opterons require registered DIMMs which have slightly
longer latencies but on the plus side they are more reliable and they are
available in larger sizes then the unregistered DIMMs used by the 939s.
