May be a dumb question, but...

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Venice 1GHz FSB 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 E6
Processor - Retail $209

AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 1GHz FSB 1MB L2 Cache Socket 939
Processor - Retail $233
http://www.newegg.com/Product/CustRatingReview.asp?Item=N82E16819103539

For the extra $24, would you all agree that the San Diego core be the
one to get over the Venice core?

Tony!

Both are very good processors. My experience is that the San Diego is a
little faster. But IMO, the difference between the two is that the SD
is quite a bit smoother.

You'll probably see some difference. Lower your expectations and enjoy
the thrill of increased performance when your expectations are exceeded.

Especially when you first try 64-bit XP. Well, I keep trying to tell
myself it's something to do with it being 64-bit, rather than the fact
it's an uncluttered, new installation, but it really does feel so much
more responsive!!
