I have beed dealing with the 'about:blank' and spyware and adware issues that are ruining my computer experience and everything I use does not work. But what is even more amazing is that the engineers in Redmond appear to either have to clue or no interest whatsoever in fixing this problem. Microsoft issues fixes very often and I cannot understand why there is no fix for such major security problem. Any hope they will do something or will we have to switch to a different browser?

Its amazing how it's always MS's fault when users fail to properly
maintain their own personal PC's.
I mean, if you forget to fill up your car and you are stranded on
the side of the road, it's not Ford's, Chevy's or Dodge's fault, it's
yours. If you forget to shut the oven or stove off and your house
burns down, it's not Frigidaire, Hotpoint, or Kenmore's fault, its
yours. If you forget to pay the power bill and they shutoff your
electricity, it's not Enron's (well exception here - it could be),
Gulf Power's, of Duke's fault, it's yours.
So how is it, when you fail to apply critical updates, install an
Antivirus and Firewall package, turn them on and keep them updated, is
it Microsoft's fault? Explain it to me?

Someone will sue one of them, claiming that the little yellow light next to the gas guage isn't noticeable enough in whatever condition, and that they should be compensated. And they'll probably win.

No warning label on my stove that says there's a danger of burning down my house if I leave it on. Just like there's no notice on my microwave about not using it to dry small pets after their bath. Someone will sue, and win.

electricity, it's not Enron's (well exception here - it could be),

They should have had Bruno, from Boston's North End, come by and remind me to pay my bill. I tripped over my footstool in the dark and sprained my knee. I think I'll sue!

(all tongue in cheek) <G>

Sadly, the vast majority of computer users are not computer literate enough, nor do they pay attention to the vast amount of press coverage about spam, virus/trojan attacks and the like.

"Hey, how could I get this virus? Its at least a week old, my system should have automatically updated, upgraded and improved itself, as well as having interfaced itself with my stereo, microwave, refrigerator and cappuchino maker, all by itself! Oh? Its a different virus? You mean there's more than one person out there writing these things? By the way, my plumber sent me an e-mail telling me that he loves me. Should I tell him I'm not gay?"

Personal responsibility is a thing of the past in this country.
