Am I wasting my time?

I have two videos recorded as mpgs, on is just over two hours and the other
over two and a half hours, and have respective sizes of approx 5.5G and 6.5G.
Now I usually use Nero Express to create a DVD and write this to the computer
disk, as it is obvuiously too big for a DVD disk, then compress it with
DVDZone and write the DVD with Nero 6.
This time I thought I would be a bit more clever and use TMPEnc to compress
the files below 4.3G and then write direct from Nero Express. So far so good,
I managed th get both videos below 4.3G. However when I open them in Nero
Express, the 2 hour film still fits, but the two and a half hour jumps up to
over 5.5G. What's happening?

Your thinking in relative to filesize and that isn't the way to think about
making the movie fit on a DVD.
Filesize makes a difference, yes, but it is more about the length of the
movie that matters. To fit a 2 1/2 hour movie on a single DVD is not an easy
task. TMPGenc can get the job done by adjusting framerates etc. but the
result is likely to be poor video quality and out of sync audio.

Hi Wojo,
TMPEGEnc is calculating the size based on the mean datarate and the length
of the file. The MPEG header contains these data and if the stream is flagged
to be 9MBit and 90 Minutes, the size will be calculated by the given data.
You got to options:
1. Change the header to the correct data (google -> ReStream)
2. leave it as it is and try to burn that video

ummm, thanks Chris.
Except the issue (from 41 days ago) wasn't mine it was WMMuser's and since
he hasn't replied back I am assuming he now understands the issue and fixed
it.
