....who's annoyed by the fact that MS removed the dotted lines joining the
icons in the tree view (left window pane) in Explorer? Any way to get them
back?

Heck, while I'm at it, is there any way to permanently remove that waste of
space that is the section that appears immediately above it showing these
so-called "Favorite Links"? There's a down-arrow button next to the tree
view to make it collapse; the least they could've done is add one next to
this Favorite Links section as well...
 
I deleted all the links - resized the Folders section all the way to the top
File - Close - all is well

I think the option that controls that behavior is under Control Panel
-> Folder Options -> View tab -> "Display simple folder view in
Navigation pane". Uncheck it to get the dotted lines back.

My problem was that I couldn't get the change to stick. Of course now I'm
trying it again, and it works as you describe... >:-(

Or maybe I'm just using too many machines and getting confused. :o)
