I did not know. How is it done?

It'll browse remote directories via ftp, as most browsers will. Just
put the ftp url in the address box. Here's one to test with:

ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/1.0.2/

;)

IE used to support gopher as well, but when a buffer overrun
vulnerability was found, MS disabled gopher support rather than fix it.

Probably not. A lot of IE users don't even know what FTP is.

That being said, IE is by no means an adequate substitute for a full FTP
client.

This begs the question... what is a good full FTP client?

TIA.

The one that comes with your OS. As you appear to be using Windows, on
your machine it is called "ftp.exe" and it runs from the command line.
