Am I stuck with Windows Mail?

I've never used Outlook and don't have a mailbox via my ISP. When I click on
a link to mail something, Windows Mail always pops up. I went into Default
Programs, Set Program Access, selected Custom, and selected "use My Current
e-mail prgram" and unchecked the box "enable access to this program" next to
Windows Mail. Still, it pops up. I'm resigned to the fact that I'll have to
copy and paste addresses into Google Mail. In XP, my default was Hotmail,
but Microsoft has apparently deleted that option in Vista. Fine. Whatever
they want. But, how do I stop Windows Mail from popping up.

What do you want to happen when you click on a website mailto link?
If it was me, I'd want it to bring up Windows Mail with my default account.
Gmail allows both POP access and web access. Why don't you add your
Gmail account to Windows Mail?

Incidentally, later this month Microsoft will release a new mail program
called Windows Live Mail which does have Hotmail access.
