Hi all, i am brand new here and with all the talk of the
worm and virus and whatever i have noted some odd
behavior of my computer. I am running XP and always
download the upgrades when i am prompted. I checked last
week to see if we had the recommended protection from
this recent mess and it appeared we did. However, we
can't shut our system off at night. Typically, we never
shut it off (is that bad?) but we left town last weekend
and tried to. I thought i did but it was on when we got
back. I figured i screwed something up. So again, I go
thru all the steps to shut the system off completely,
short of unplugging, and all is quiet, the "hum" of the
computer running stops and everything. But then later
all i have to do is hit the space bar and instantly
the "welcome" screen showing the 3 users appears,( the
screen that is there for you to click and log in as
yourself and go to your personal desktop- sorry i dont
know what that screen is called but you know what i mean
right?) What is going on and is it ok to leave our
computer on all the time (I would turn it off in a
lightning storm but otherwise on...) ????????? I dont
really understand what this worm can do, i just keep
hearing about it. How do you get it anyway? Please help!
