Am I Doing Something Wrong?

I have a one hour video that I made using Windows Movie Maker. It takes
almost 3 hours to save it back to my DV Camcorder. Is that right?

Then, using Nero Vision Express, I burned the same movie that I made with
Windows Movie Maker and saved to my hardrive (it took about two hours for it
to save to my hard drive) to DVD.

Three questions regarding Nero:

1. It took over three hours for Nero to "transcode" and burn the movie...is
this correct?
2. I would like to burn more copies. Is it going to have to go through the
whole three hour process each time or can I just get straight to the burning
process since I've already had it "transcoded" (whatever that means).
3. To get the best quality, Nero says that my movie is slightly too large
to use on my DVD+R disc. My movie is 1 hour 3 minutes but the package on the
DVD says I can record 2 hours of video. I really would like to have great
quality. What should I do? What about the new "double layer" 8.5 gig discs?
Will these work in my regular DVD player at home?

One more question, please...Would I be better off with Sonic MyDVD. Some of
the posts seem to indicate that it works real well with MovieMaker.

Thanks very much for any help.

About the times it takes to render and burn, they all seem reasonable....

I'm just finishing the conversion of a 30 minute VOB file on a mini-DVD to
an AVI file compressed with the WMV9 codec... it's going along fine on my
2.4 GHz laptop... 97 % complete at the moment and it's taken about 10 hours
so far.

Rendering times can be short or long... depending on the codec and the
software.
