I know ive asked before

Or should I just grit my teeth and ignore the fact that some people are ignorant and just stay away from any posts that dont have please or thankyou typed into them dya think?

I dont wanna get told off but it really does 'P' me off. Think I need to take a chill pill

I think a lot of us feel that way, so cool down take a pill and live life to the full, life is to short you learn that "A refusal is better than offending" Trust me my Friend;)

Fair enough, i like to think that most people are too panicked about their PC's to remember manners.

If someone is rude, just ignore it and they won't get a response ;) That's the easiest way!

There's no way we can make it a rule for people to use manners, and complaining at each thread would degrade the site pretty quickly. Helping those that are polite will ensure that friendly people stick around :)

It's a fact of life that you get people like this, on the other hand, some people might not be used to forums and need some time to adapt (not much of an excuse mind you).

I would suggest avoiding having a go at new members for not being courteous, as it would make us seem like a very unfriendly place (and I think we are a friendly bunch :D).

I've just seen the thread I'm guessing you are talking about now - I've cleaned it up ;) Now I understand the context.

I understand what you are trying to do, but I don't think it helps by confronting people about it as it just degrades into a flame war pretty quickly and winds people up. Like W_F said, some people are just panicked by a broken PC and come to the first place for help - I don't think the post was especially rude tbh. Once people start to feel like members then things start to change - I'm sure many people here started off just by asking a question or two and then stuck around.

Most forums have plenty of posts like this, and we'll never be able to change this - the best we can do is either ignore the post if it's rude or keep a friendly site going and help those we want to :) If we had a go at everyone who posted without a please and thankyou then there would be disagreements all the time

Only you can decide. We all have different viewpoints on things and you have to go with whatever you feel is right. :thumb:

I agree with you Ian. However a question was asked to my response. So I gave a hint that not even a 5year old could misinterpret. Instead I was met with a degree of trolling so left it at that.

However I did send a PM (in a courteous manner) informng him/her I was unhappy with the way he/she spoke to me

It's ok. TBH if people want to go through their lives acting like they have a chip on their shoulder it's entirely upto them as long as i'm not made out to be the bad guy! :)

AS for what I feel is right well We all know that story dont we ;)

Oh well......

Don't get me wrong, I'm not excusing people for not saying please/thankyou - I just think that if all threads went the same way then we would all get wound up pretty quick (as there are always going to be posts like that). If those threads are just ignored instead then it encourages people to make sure they post something friendly in the first place :).

Some people are just very polite ;)

OMFG I think you need to clean up your database ;)

A shame you didnt find my original post to you about 6months or so before that. Actually I think it was a PM I sent you about doing reviews? Or was it 6months later. I cant remember now!

Yeah I understand mate.

The problem remained after I was asked if there was something wrong with the post. It still went no where just abuse LOL

Anyway we could talk about this all night and i'm shattered zzzzz

Edit*
I CANT BELIEVE YOU DUG THAT OUT BTW

I think that those after a quick fix to a problem sometimes forget to introduce themselves on a 1st post.
Many forget to say please or thank you as once they have the answer they disappear as quick as they came!
But sadly thats how some user's in cyber space act these days.
TriplexDread, it's nice to see someone bringing the subject up though.:thumb:

Thanks mate. I feel someone has to say something even if it's for people to read and think to themselves "crap maybe I should go say hello first"

even after hints some people are so damn complacent that they have done nothing wrong they just continue. However if folk bring it up as i'm sure I will again in the future (hmmmm) - People who come and join us or see this thread then maybe, Just maybe, it will make them think about etiquette even on the WWW

Personaly I feel it would be nice if people did say hallo first..But sometimes I think people that come on here first and formost think about their computers so politeness just slips out the window...If it really bothers you then just don't reply to that thread...Or if you do, borrow a bit of sarcasm from me...My pet peeve is people that come for advice and just won't listen to what more experienced people have to say..Take for instance a trhead that went on a bit to long yesterday, till Ian stepped in...lol..Anyway no thread hijacking here...I'd say just chill and don't let it bother you matey...:thumb:

Hehe good idea

From now on i'll just put "chill" as a reply then you lot will know ;)

Best thing to do matey, no point getting wound up overr people you don't even know...:thumb:

My POV FWIW

If I don't like the tone of a post and assuming it's non offensive I'll just ignore it.

Responding with vitriol, sarcasm, insults and other negative wording just creates bad feelings and imo reflects badly on the forum.

It takes all sorts, as they say, and not everybody's perfect, me included.

So, ignore and toleration are the key words here, imo :)
