I recently installed Avast Anti-Virus and it detected a virus
called ALZZIP.BIN. Avast says it's a Win32 Trojan-gen. I can't
find much in the way of information about it other than it is a
low risk trojan.

My question is - I have a program on my computer called ALLZIP -
a free archiving utility similar to Winzip. Does anyone know
if Allzip created the virus or the name of the virus is just a
coincidence?

Any info appreciated. Thanks.

Peobably more correctly rephrased:

"I recently installed Avast Anti-Virus and it detected Win32 Trojan-gen
in a file named ALZZIP.BIN."
I can't
find much in the way of information about it other than it is a

....or a false positive detection by Avast.

Have you scanned the file with other vendors scanners yet
to help to determine that? If others good scanners don't see
any malware, then you may want to ask Avast to investigate
the problem.

It could be a false postive detection of the "Win32 Trojan-gen"
in a legitimate file, a conspiracy, or a coincidence. You can now
narrow it down by doing a second (or even third) opinion scan.
Any info appreciated. Thanks

Were the spellings (2 L's 1 Z / 1 L 2 Z's) intentional?
