Can someone PLEASE tell me how to disable IE from trying
to redial my ISP when I don't want it to. At the end of an
internet session, I want to log off, close Explorer, and powerdown
my computer. As soon as I log off, an automatic dialing attempt is made,
and I hit cancel. A second later another attempt. On and on this happens.

It's almost imposible closing down my machine because it's forever trying
to redial. I'm at home vs. at a company. I used to be able to disconnect
from the internet and work offline. I don't know what happened, but now
my computer refuses to be disconnected from the internet.

Thanks

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
