Would my assumption that alu cases generally would be noisier than steel cases be correct?

What's this then? A subject for a thesis? :D

I dunno, meself. My aluminium Lian Li PC61 sure is noiser, far noiser than this steel & plastic Antec 900. Or is it the four 80mm Vantec and Pabst fans?

Hmm, aluminium's a softer metal than steel so wouldn't a steel case resonate more?

Got me thinking now.....

I think case design may have more to do with noise than materials used but I honestly don't know.

I guess the material is definitely a factor when producing db's though.

if you had a fan that was resonating at or near the natural frequency of the material it will make more noise for sure

what they are and whether a fan could cause such vibrations at the right frequency i dont know lol, just a thought though

Well, what got me thinking was partly trying to overcome a minor disappointment.
After aaaaaaaages umming and ahhhhing over wether I liked a case or not I finally decided I quite like it.

But by then they were all sold out.

Stacker

I wanted an orange one.

My daughter likes the green but I'm undecided.
So I'll probably save £30 and buy a CM 690 instead.

I've never owned an alu case but assumed the thicker/more dense steel cases would reduce noise somewhat.
