Is there any alternative to watching Video news when you get the message:
In order to view the VIDEO news you have to install G2 (V.7)
in your machine or you can download it directly from site (click icon).

That goes to www.real.com and its a 14-day trial download.

The URL where I came across thhe above message is here:
http://www.netguruindia.com/vnews/newsindex.asp

Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

There are two types of links on that page. The http....ram links can be
played directly or saved to hard disk and replayed later. I use media
player classic with real-alternative codecs installed.

This gets you yesterdays news. I tested it and it works. There were a few
pauses while the video buffer fills up, but that is probably a slightly
low transmission from this web site. If you download the files and play
them there should be no pauses.

The rtsp....ram links (todays news) are more complicated to use. You need
to install the G2 player from realmedia or any player implementation from
this web page

I can only guess why they have decided to use the rtsp...ram file format.
Maybe it is a realtime direct newsfeed from their ordinary program, so
they cannot record it.

Thank you Roger, this worked for me too with Media Player Classic.

There seems to be a Helix Player, but I'm not sure whether it would work
without installing G2 Player from Real. Its all a bit confusing - Helix
seems to have some collaboration with Real. But the commercial version
of Real is also mentioned in the same page.
