Hi, Every time I install Microsoft Word on my sytem, it causes problems. so
I had heard a few weeks back that there is an alternative to word and
hopefully it's free... Does anyone know of this program? thanks Rainy ps
looked on the net, but found a program that is not free.. hoping there might
be one that is..

Hi Rainy,

Java isn't required for Open Office, but it is recommended. Running jview
from a command prompt will tell you the currently installed version, if it
is installed at all.

Hi,

If you have java installed, then you don't need it as part of the OO
package.

ok thanks... I had the old one on cd.. will look for the new one.. Rainy
Regardless of what you do about a Word replacement, please update your
version of Java to version 1.5.0.07.

The version you presently have installed is open to attack!

Uninstall the old version first. Then install the new version.

Hi Richard,
Would you have the d/l link for Java ver. 1.5.0.07? I went to Sun's site,
and am completely baffled as to where to even *start*.

Many TIA,
