Alternate to Nero Disk Quality Test (for DVD-CD)

I've got a new Pioneer DVR-215D DVD writer. Nero 8's utility DiscSpeed's
Disc Quality tab, which reads an optical disk and reports the quality in
%, with a graph of error levels, gives a "drive does not support this
function" error.

I wonder if there's an alternate utility, hopefully freeware?

You can try kprobe with InCD. It seems to do protocol translation
for some drives in some versions. I had luck with a Samsung
DVD writer, despite its claim to only support
Lite On drives. Also see here:

Always verify the burn. "Palm reading" alone would not guarantee
a 100% correct burn. And make multiple copies. :)

Pioneer drives do not support disc quality scanning properly. Any program
that does work with them is punching out nonsense that cannot be compared to
other drives scanning abilities and indeed at times cannot even be
replicated. If you want to do disc quality scanning of your Pioneer burns
then get a LiteOn burner for the task.
