Alternate Start Menu folder location no longer loads programs

I'm a huge advocate of partitions, given the horrors of W98
& having to reformat every six months (FWIW: WXP is
chugging along just terrifically for me!) Anywho, I used
TweakUI to point the location of the Start Menu to a different
partition where I had pretty much recreated my user
information. For a little while I was getting a second
Program menu item at the top of the first one. This second
Program menu contained all the items in my personal Start
Menu folder. I moved some files around to consolidate stuff
(e.g., stuff that was in my personal settings to the global &
vice versa.) Now, however, I get *nothing* except the global
Start Menu items - my custom location seems to not be
getting picked up. I've tried to reset things & it's still all
boogered. Any ideas? Thanx!

Type regedit in Start - Run and navigate to these two keys and examine the Programs value (and maybe the Start Menu values) and see where you changed it too. At some stage you draged and dropped the Programs folder which updates the path in the registry
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\UserShell Folders

As you moved stuff about I suggest you use hard coded paths in both keys. You have to in Shell Folders but XP doesn't use that value - old setup programs do to find where to put shortcuts - so both have to resolve to the same path.
